Here is the rest of Chris Roberts' fan fiction to read while we try to survive the post-trailer calm. I also added a fan fiction section where people can submit their own Freddy stories to share.
Nightmare on Elm Street: Seeker
Sean awoke and looked at the clock: 2am. Shit, he thought. He wasn't so awake that he couldn't go back to sleep, but he was fearful of what he might find on the other side of slumber. He had done some research on Fred Krueger, hoping for answers. Unfortunately, all he found in the library's microfiche were blacked out obituaries and old newspapers with entire articles clipped out. Good thing the internet had no filter. Googling "Fred Krueger" kept him busy for several hours. Where the stories about the Springwood Slasher stopped, something new and much more disturbing began. People claiming to have seen Freddy in their dreams. Many had blogged about what they saw on the other side. Some kept daily journals, logging online late into the night, saying they had not slept in days. Scarier yet, some just stopped posting altogether. One girl even said she wasn't sure how much longer she could hold on. Now, laying in bed, Sean began to ask himself the same question. If push came to shove, how long could he last? Would he even want to? Why does Freddy need him? That was the last question he asked before he fell asleep and found his answer.
Sean did not know what to do. He knew now that the plans Krueger had for him were not to harm him; but he was scared of what he had become. He was given the power to enter the dreams of others, something Freddy said he took from a girl who tried to use it against him. He wasn't inclined to believe him until he lifted up his sweater. Among the maggots and burnt flesh, he saw faces. They were all screaming in agony, crying to be set free. Among them he saw a beautiful girl with bright eyes who was asking Sean to help her.
Now when Sean dreamed, he saw others die. First it was the kids at school who thought they were better than him. Then, he started seeing people he knew. After that it was friends. Soon he found himself dreading sleep but knowing that those he saw while he was awake might not be there the next morning. At the same time, he found such a peace about the dreams. Despite the murders in the dream world and the police investigating the murders in the waking world, he was the only person in Springwood getting a good night sleep. When Krueger was attacking the ones who used to belittle him and his now dwindling circle of friends, he almost felt vindicated. Even justified in his actions. Freddy told Sean about what he went through. Even showed him some things. Sean never thought what Freddy had done was right, but damn it, those parents didn't have the right to murder him.
Now, he can't comprehend why he felt like that. Seeing what that maniac did to Meggan was something that would never leave him. He wanted it to end. He needed it to end.
He didn't realize he was asleep until he was in so deep he wasn't able to wake himself up. This one wasn't so bad. He was alone in a field. Sean happened upon a beautiful green pasture, covered in red tulips. He began to think of his mother and how she could talk for hours about the farm her grandfather had. She visited every summer and picked tulips and wildflowers. She said one time when she was six, she fed her grandfather's horse Olive Branch some of the wildflowers she picked.
Suddenly, Sean heard a little girl laughing in the distance. He looked across the field and saw a barn. He realized he was at his great grandfather's farm. Soon, he saw a little girl in a white dress, running into the barn with wildflowers in her hand. Then the screaming started. Sean ran as fast as he could until he got to the barn. When he reached the door, a gust of wind slammed it open, allowing Sean to see Freddy, standing over his mother. She was her right age now, still wearing a white dress. Her hair was in ribbons and curls. If this wasn't such a horrifying situation, he may have complemented his mother on how beautiful she looked. The inside of the barn had now become a boiler room. His boiler room.
"Krueger!" Sean cried as he approached the villain. "You leave her alone you bastard!"
Freddy sneered at Sean as he caressed his mother's face. "No need to bring my daddy issues into this!"
"You wanted me Freddy, come and get me! I won't be your errand boy anymore."
Freddy growled and dropeed his would be victim, laughing at Sean knowing all he could do was watch her disappear. Sean could only pray she was still alive.
Sean nashed his teeth, knowing he may never wake up again. He thought about the powers he had been given and he realized that if Krueger killing someone in a dream caused them to die in real life and if Sean was the only one left, Freddy would be destroyed.
He quickly ran out of the boiler room looking for anything he could use to end his life. Sean never thought it would come to this, but knew that if he didn't die, others would. As he opened the door at the top of the stairs, he saw a sign with a cartoon glove. The glove had two bright blue eyes and with a smile, the speech balloon read 'Remember! No Smoking Beyond This Point!' Below it were the words 'Don't be a slob, protect your job'. Sean couldn't help but laugh as he heard the song "Take This Job and Shove It" in his head. He ran down the hallway and found an office. He could hear Krueger now, running up the steps, running his claws down the side of the wall.
Sean knew the dream was manipulating him, stretching the hallway towards the office. Sean forced the dream to bend back toward reality, allowing him to reach the office door. He opened the door and ran for the desk, pulling open the middle drawer to find a revolver. A tear ran down his cheek as he grabbed the revolver put it in his mouth and pulled the trigger. An explosion rang into Sean's ear and he began to gag. He opened his mouth and pulled out a flag that read BANG. Suddenly, Freddy jumped up behind him, leaned into his ear and whispered "Did you really think I'd make it that easy for you?"
