Everyone in Springwood was not as nice and clean cut as our heroine, Nancy. Rod Lane was the bad boy of Elm Street. He was also the on again, off again apple of Tina Gray’s eye. He was in the room with Tina when she was murdered by Freddy, and in a moment fright, thought it best to leave the crime scene. Springwood’s Police Department, led by Nancy’s father, Donald, arrested him while he was pleading his case to her.

The Daily Herald reports that A Nightmare on Elm Street will be shooting at two schools in Chicago.

"New Line Cinema wants to use Elk Grove High School and Hersey High School in Arlington Heights for an upcoming remake of the classic horror movie 'A Nightmare on Elm Street,' Elk Grove High Principal Nancy Holman confirmed Sunday. The plans were announced to students during an assembly Friday."

In 1989 Marvel comics published the first but short-lived A Nightmare on Elm Street comic book featuring Freddy Krueger. However, this would not be the last comic to outline Freddy’s tremendous body count. Read on for a brief history of Krueger's career in the funny books.

Kellan Lutz is in final negotiations to join the teens on Elm Street as Dean, a rich and popular jock.

Lutz plays Emmett Cullen in the Twilight films, and starred in 2008's Prom Night, the upcoming Ghosts of Goldfield with Roddy Piper and has a recurring role on The CW's 90210.

This will make him the fourth teen to be cast along with Rooney Mara as Nancy Thompson, Kyle Gallner as Quentin, and Thomas Dekker as Jesse.

Esplatter.com has announced that Rooney Mara will be replacing Heather Langenkamp as the character Nancy Thompson in Platinum Dunes' 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Mara got her start with 2005's direct to DVD sequel Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, and is currently starring in the 2009 comedy Youth in Revolt.

One of the best parts about growing up in the late 80s and early 90s is that R-rated movies were turned into children's shows, games and merchandise. Violent films like RoboCop and Rambo were typical Saturday morning cartoon viewing material, and even Lloyd Kaufman's Toxic Avenger had a short run as a kids show called The Toxic Crusaders.

Shocktillyoudrop has learned that Thomas Dekker is in final negotiations to join the cast of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). Dekker is best know for playing the young John Connor on the television show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and got his start at a young age in John Carpenter's Village of the Damned.

If signed Dekker will play "Jesse," a jock on the swim team. The Platinum Dunes' remake begins shooting next month in Chicago.

I just caught this in the Chicago Daily Observer, "A local casting agency is looking for extras for the newest Nightmare on Elm Street film, which will be shooting in Chicago starting May 5 and on into July according to an announcement on their site."

Here is the official casting call from Atmosphere Casting in Chicago.
