Angry Nintendo Nerd is a popular video series where the Nintendo Nerd revisits some of the worst video games in history. In episode #13 he takes of Freddy Krueger and Nintendo's A Nightmare on Elm Street. There is a lot of foul language as the Nerd curses his way through this side-scrolling "diarrhea mess." Variety announced that Friday Night Lights' Connie Britton has been cast to play Nancy's mom, Marge Thompson, in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010.

The 42-year-old actress has done mostly TV including 24, The West Wing and Spin City.

I should note that it is unknown if she will be called "Marge" in the remake, but that was the character's name in the original Elm Street.

Producer Brad Fuller published his first update about A Nightmare on Elm Street on his blog, and included this picture of the Springwood Police cruiser. Check out what he had to say about the film's progress below.

So last night was one that I won't forget. We've been shooting in Chicago for two weeks and I've got some great stories to tell, but last night was the first time we filmed Freddy - the first time that we saw Jackie with all his wardrobe and make-up.

It was insane.

Chris Roberts, who normally handles our character bios, sent me this YouTube clip from Robot Chicken that explains the real origin of Freddy Krueger. So it was just one big misunderstanding after all! Who knew?

Freddy Krueger is the bastard son of one hundred maniacs. His mother, Amanda Krueger (aka Sister Mary Helena) was accidentally locked inside a wing of Westin Hills for the criminally insane. She was raped repeatedly before she was found. Nine months later, she gave birth to Fredrick Charles Krueger. Raised by an abusive stepfather and constantly ridiculed by his peers, Krueger began using pain as a release. Eventually, he murdered his stepfather with a straight razor and began a new life in Springwood with his wife Loretta. They would have one daughter, Katherine.
