Everyone in Springwood was not as nice and clean cut as our heroine, Nancy. Rod Lane was the bad boy of Elm Street. He was also the on again, off again apple of Tina Gray’s eye. He was in the room with Tina when she was murdered by Freddy, and in a moment fright, thought it best to leave the crime scene. Springwood’s Police Department, led by Nancy’s father, Donald, arrested him while he was pleading his case to her. It was in jail where Rod confided in Nancy that he just saw “cuts happening” and that he too was having nightmares about a man with knives for fingers. He was found dead in his holding cell of an apparent suicide by hanging. Played by Jsu Garcia.

I'm dissatisfied, to say the least, with the guise that an established character does not a scary movie make.
It is interesting that they are seemingly compiling all of the Nightmare films into one with cookie cutter, fresh out of drama class talent for the new generation.
But Freddy Kruger is and always will be the only Robert Englund in the world! *yes, I said that right*
I will not be among your target audience for this one.
