Even if Robert Englund is a little peeved that he was not asked to reprise his role as Freddy Krueger in Platinum Dunes' remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, he is being a class act about it and not letting it be known. The actor recently talked to SeattlePi about his upcoming show, Fear Clinic with Kane Hodder, the V reboot and of course Elm Street.
"Premiering online Oct. 26 on FEARnet, Fear Clinic follows the crazed Dr. Andover (Englund) as he helps cure people's deepest phobias after losing his medical license and heading south of the border."
"Being a kind of mad scientist, he's sort of a last resort for people suffering from deliberating phobias," Englund says. "We treat it as if I'm a good man but I've gone too far."
Elm Street:
"I feel pretty old," Englund says. "My two biggest hits are being remade so there's kind of a perfect storm right now. I'm curious and looking forward to it," Englund says. "Nightmare on Elm Street really lends itself to using new technologies. CGI would be a great way to exploit and embrace the dream sequences."
V
Englund is even hoping for a cameo in ABC's reinterpretation of V, if the show proves to be a hit. "The alien press secretary — the equivalent of Diana — that's a great concept in the new translation and I like her look," he says.
V premieres November 3rd, on ABC.
What makes Freddy was his humor and that's why i like him as a horror character because he taunted you before he killed you as opposed to just being a silent killer.
I just went to see the new Nightmare on Elm Street and it was ok. The key part that is missing from the movie is the sarcasm that Robert Englund brings to Freddy's character and I think the only way they could have got that would have been to have Robert Englund as Freddy. The special effects were better, as they should be considering there has been 25 years of advancements in technology. However, Robert Englund would have been the ONLY candidate for Freddy in my book. Just my opinion.
Robert England you should be in it you are freddy and thats that long live the original Freddy Krueger.
