Finally folks, the MPAA has rated A Nightmare on Elm Street a heavy R for strong bloody horror violence, disturbing images, terror, and language. Sweet. There were rumors going around that this movie might have gotten a PG-13, but this news certainly dashes that idea. The movie hits April 30, exactly three weeks from today.
For the people that are hateing on the new nightmare on elm street?
you people need to realize that this movie is not directed twoards the older generation it is directed twoards the new generationit is not going to be a remake it is going to be new movie with a lot of similarities
and stop complaining about the new face it is supposed to look like burnt flesh not the regular freddy face
yes it sucks not to have robert englund play as freddy but he is old
It's a fucking movie. You ALL need to get over it. It hasn't even been released yet, and you're ripping each others' throats out. Wow. It's just. A fucking. MOVIE. Some of you are telling everyone else to get a life........ but I think YOU all need to get a life as well and quit bickering over stupid shit. Honestly. Sound good? (: Good. Now shut the hell up. Thanks.
I cannot believe that they didn't bring back Robert Englund. To me, he is the only man that can actually do the Freddy Krueger character. Robert Englund put his all iinto that character and he deserves to have played him once again!
A reason why they didn't bring him back is because if they kept robert Englund for the film it would just be considered as a sequel not a remake. I agree with you though he did bring everything he had to the character but it is time for a change for a newer generation of film goers
No nudity? I thought i read a casting call for multiple woman at a pool party to be topless. Hope they didnt cut that scene
I'm sorry but every time I see the commercial I can't stop laughing at how gay Haley sounds.
You Elm Street nerds crack me up.
the fact that your webname is dildopractice makes us seem like the hottest people on earth. ANOES fans are the best!

this movie is gonna rock! and freddy's voice might sound better when you see the movie. they are only giving short clips of his voice. and the make-up is actaully made to look like a real burn victim. I also enjoy that they are using the whole micro-naps thing. i just hope that there are some perts where you dont realize they are dreaming. thats what wes went for in the first and i think thats another great idea they should have incorporated. either way ill still love it. true fans will go to see this regardless of the changes. they saved the best re-imagining for last. i think we're ready for this!!!!
I cannot believe how many comments Ive read on this site along the lines of 'Freddy looks different... this film is gonna suck,' and 'Freddy sounds different... this film is gonna suck'.
Freddy looks and sounds different? No shit!!! Youre kidding right?!
Tell you what, lets just put the OLD Freddy make-up on Jackey Earl Haley, then he'll look the way he did, which became progressively more terrifying with every remake.
No, scrub that, lets find Robert Englund and put him back in his old make-up. Then he'll sound the way he used to as well.
Actually, hang on. Lets sack the director and get Wes Craven back on the case, even though he left the series after the first episode because he couldn't contain his terror at having to make further sequels that his talent might not extend to.
Thinking about it, why stop there? Lets get Adam Sandler to write some stupid comments that Freddy can utter every time he makes a kill, cos those stupid comments were hilarious every time.
No, no, no. I havent gone far enough. Lets scrap the title of the film and call it Nightmare on Elm Street 8: Freddy's Really Pissed Now He's Got Arthritis.
Then it'll be just like the good old days!
Yeah. Thats the way forward. That'll go to the top.
Tell you what, instead of all that, if you're that determined to live in the past, stop posting drivel on this website and go and stick the dvd of the original on. Or better still, go get a life. Stop sitting there foaming at the mouth ranting about a film you dont want to see.
ok i get that you want change to the series but i would be willing for changes as well but i want GOOD changes the good change i would like to see is rob zombie directing it but i guess i didnt get that.... the point is that this is going to be a insult to th nightmare on elm street franchise the only thing that is going to be good about this is that the series hasnt been forgotten and maybe one day they can make a good freddy remake like the halloweens which are directed by the great rob zombie
Or instead we can hire a washed-up music video director, give the original story more "back story" -- meaning tell the same story as the original with a FLASHBACK -- and create the same boring shiny turd we made already with TCM and F13. I'm not hating on this film because I'm against change, I'm hating on it because we know what type of films Platinum Dunes makes and this is going to be the same shit, just with Freddy!
TCM wasnt that great, true but F13 was actually decent with the exception of the annoying signature Michael Bay Transformers lighting that didnt even make Shia LaBeoufs acting work at all but then again nothing could help him but that's another story. If you'd paid attention to the trailers and news of the Nightmare remake then you'd know that it"s quite entertaining for most fans who just love the concept of Freddy and who understand the he changes to him, i mean how many times in the old series did Freddy's make-up and vice change? quite a few. Also you'd know that there is possibly a cameo of Robert Englund in the film as a faculty member at the high school who specializes in dreams named Dr Britton despite what you've been told about no cameo and that's from Englund's mouth. If you dont like how this film looks or how it's plot sounds then you're probably not a fan for true fans are excited about a new incarnation of Freddy and to see him on the big screen again no matter the look or sound. The only thing that may suck is a few scenes with these newer actors.
*voice
this movie is going to be crap like every other pd remake. your all stupid for waisting your money of this crap!!
Kuttuleus Barbob...if you are going to make a point to someone at least use correct grammar -- "better" not "best" lad. I actually agree with two points Jason made: Freddy's looks. Probaby my biggest complaint with this film (I'm a huge fan of the original and loved the fact that Freddy always was scary). I'm not opposed to the remake at all just don't find the make-up for Freddy to be nearly as scary or menacing as it was in the first -- he just looks mildly retarded from what I've seen (hopefully it gets better). Second: Freddy's voice -- now it's not too bad...but yet again not scary, which I think is what they should be aiming for! I'm not saying the movie sucks and that I won't see it or that I hate remakes but if you are going to remake this film change it of course...Change is good, that's why it's called a "remake"! Just change it so it benefits the film not bring it down...in this case the element of fear is, at least for me, completely absent! Which if I'm not mistaken is what the film is supposed to do...scare the audience. We'll see I suppose.
stop complaining about the new face it is supposed to look like burnt flesh not the regular freddy face
yes it sucks not to have robert englund play as freddy but he is old
So don't go!
I'm very excited with this remake, and i think this film gonna be best than original!
Shut up, Jason. No one gives a fuck if you go see this movie or not.
Seriously?! Freddy looks NOTHING like himself.... and his voice is completely different!! This Freddy sucks!! Definately NOT going to go see this movie!!

Ya know, Jason, you inability to handle change is kinda disturbing. Being this film could be considered a psychological thriller (as most of the horror takes places in a person's sub-conscious), I feel a connection to psychology would be appropriate.
The best test to gauge a person's mental health is by testing their mental flexibility, how easy they can handle changes and adapt to them. Your inability to accept the change in the nightmare series may indicate some level of mental malformation.
You may want to look into that, bud.
