Things have been pretty quiet ever since Platinum Dunes released their A Nightmare on Elm Street one-sheet and first teaser picture of Freddy Krueger at this year's Comic-Con. They have been keeping things under tight wraps, including Jackie Earle Haley, who they transported in a darkened van back and forth to the set. To make sure no curious onlookers caught a glimpse of the new Krueger, they covered him in dark robes and umbrellas while escorting him to the closed shoots.

Fangoria was lucky enough to get an exclusive set visit, and today they published part one of their special report. You can read the entire article here, or just the good stuff below.

"In the scene Fango witnesses, Quentin tries desperately to stay awake and discovers Freddy in the bookstore. There, he sits with a group of youngsters who don’t seem terribly disturbed at having Freddy reading them a bedtime story. Haley’s costume and makeup are similar enough to resemble the original Freddy, but with a few differences that reflect the darker tone of the new movie—surely enough to scare the kids. But when the director shouts “Cut!” the reason for their lack of fear becomes obvious. Haley switches off the Freddy and turns on the charm for the child actors. He shows them the glove, gives them high fives, lets them touch the makeup. In no time at all, the children are giggling."
